Why Your Exercise and Diet Programs Have Failed
By Burgess Xavier
Have you been successful in almost every other area of your life, but just cannot stay on a healthy diet and lose weight, no matter how hard you try? For some, the battle to lose weight is always a losing one.
The healthiest way to lose weight is neither crash diets and fad diets nor sudden bursts of exercise. It is also important that you do not get discourage by the slow pace of weight loss. After all, you did not suddenly put the weight on. Although it may seem that the weight appeared instantly, rest assured that it was a gradual process and rushing to get it off would not help, but only frustrate you.
Exercise to lose weight is actually a good idea. However, it is better to exercise to keep fit and stay healthy. One of the keys when you want to exercise to lose weight is to choose an activity that you really enjoy. One reason why truly overweight people fail to lose weight is that the task seems so big. This leads to doubt and soon the exercise program is abandoned. Find something that you enjoy, something that motivates you. Maybe it is a favorite sport, maybe is walking with a friend, or even sweeter is the ever so popular reason to lose weight is to meet a prospective mate
Diet here, diet there, diet everywhere. Before beginning any diet, it's important that you understand these two important facts. First, the diet industry has told us repeatedly through the years that we --˜can have the foods we love in moderation and still lose weight." If you are following any diet, which allows you to eat anything to lose weight, you are fooling yourself. Secondly, when we think about our weight loss diet, there are a number of foods, which seems to be prohibited. The perfect diet feels like something you want to do because it feels natural and that can only come when you give yourself time to change. Plus, the scientific evidence supports the fact that a good balance between carbohydrate, fat and protein can help you lose weight and keep it off.
If you are going to embark on a weight loss program, the first thing you have to know before targeting to lose weight is to know your body first as everybody has a different body type. How does you body respond to food, and how does it respond to exercise? Maximize the one that is most effective but do them both. The best way to lose weight is to combine both approaches. So consume fewer calories than you usually do or take more exercise or both. So forget all of the fad diets, the fastest (and easiest) way to lose weight is with a combination of diet and exercise, slowly and gradually. Also, what you should be focusing at when trying to lose weight is actually how they want to look, how you want your body to look, rather than the weight they want to lose.
Finally, probably the biggest mistake people make when they are trying to lose weight is all-or-nothing thinking. Let me end by stating that the worst way to lose weight is by skipping meals. Skipping meals to lose weight is not a good idea either--"you're likely to overeat at the next meal just because you are so hungry.
Remember to lose weight is not only for the sake of looking good and feeling better about yourself, it is more so for the sake of your health.
